Bearing Tabs
super easy with SolidSteel parametric für Siemens NX

Bearing Tabs or connecting ribs are frequently encountered in a wide variety of installation situations in structural steel design. Of course, a correspondingly shaped plate can be modeled with Siemens NX and pushed to the appropriate position. But this is not necessary!

SolidSteel parametric for Siemens NX does exactly that fully automatically. A sheet metal part is created, boreholes are created in the profile and in the sheet metal, bolts are placed including the complete bolt sets and optionally a welded component assembly is created from the sheet metal and the connection profile. All this with just a few clicks in convenient menus.

It's that easy:

Step 1: Placing the beams

Of course, the first step is the profile design. With the convenient functions of SolidSteel parametric for Siemens NX, the two profiles are quickly placed, including the appropriate alignment, and the next step is to continue with the cuts.

Step 2: Cutting beams

Before the bearing tab plate can be placed with SolidSteel parametric for Siemens NX, the source profile must first be cut. For this purpose, SolidSteel parametric offers different types of cuts. In this case, a simple profile cut or a surface cut is recommended.

Step 3: Placing the bearing tab

Once everything is prepared, the bearing tab plate can be placed. The welded and screwed profile is selected and SolidSteel parametric basically does the rest. Of course, the geometry and the position of the bearing tab plate can still be changed via various settings. In addition, the appropriate bolts with washers and nuts or entire bolt sets can be selected in the convenient bolt manager.

Step 4: The result

With the help of SolidSteel parametric for Siemens NX, the bearing tab plate could be placed with a few clicks and in under two minutes. Of course, this included the automatic creation of welded component assemblies, the automatic placement of boreholes and screws, and the placement of the plate itself.
